About Moon Made Farms in Garberville, California

When Tina Gordon arrived in Humboldt County in 2007 to film a documentary, she felt an undeniable pull toward the land. A musician and filmmaker turned farmer, she traded San Francisco streets for rolling hills and oak groves. Through a serendipitous twist, this special stretch of land once belonging to a dear friend became her home, and she set about developing the 40 acres that would become a farm, collective, and center of agricultural innovation for the next decade to come.

At Moon Made Farms, Tina practices regenerative agriculture that goes beyond standard organics: compost, cover crops, hügelkultur beds, rainwater irrigation, and closed-loop systems help enrich the living soil—without pesticides, herbicides, or synthetic fertilizers. Here, farming is as much about the moon as it is the sun. Tina and her team follow lunar rhythms — timing sowing, planting, growth, and harvest with the waxing and waning cycles — to align more deeply with nature’s living cycles.
